13-goals forward decides to snub Man City in order to join Man United

Ajax wonderkid Justin Kluivert is reportedly holding out for a move to Manchester United despite speculation linking him with Manchester City.

Kluivert has scored 13 goals in 56 appearances since breaking into Ajax’s first-team in 2016 but the 19-year-old could be set for a Premier League switch in the summer transfer window.

The youngster has been in discussions with Ajax over a new deal and is demanding that he is made the club’s highest-paid player. Kluivert also asked for part of any future transfer fee to be distributed between him and super-agent Mino Raiola.

However, according to The Guardian, Ajax are refusing to meet Kluivert’s contract demands – and the forward now favours a move to Old Trafford. United’s interest in Kluivert may indicate that Jose Mourinho has finally lost patience with Anthony Martial.

The French attacker has been linked with the likes of Juventus and Chelsea in recent weeks and Mourinho slammed his recent performance against Brighton.

Speaking after United’s 1-0 defeat, Mourinho told Sky Sports: ‘I wouldn’t say disappointed, because I know them. I thought for some the possibility to start a game, to give reason to the ones who criticise my choices.

‘”Why always Lukaku?” Now you have your answer to “Why always Lukaku?” We are not as good as individually as people think we are.’

‘The players who replaced others didn’t perform at a good level and when individuals don’t perform at a good level it’s difficult for the team to play at good level.

‘And now maybe you understand why some players playe more than other and you won’t ask all the time why A, B and C don’t play more.

‘My players if you ask them they will tell you I told them what was going to happen and at half-time. I knew it and I told them but that’s what we got. Of course there was a positive reaction in last 20 minutes but that’s normal.’
