Manchester United face competition for Atalanta midfielder Franck Kessie with French giants Paris Saint-Germain having entered the race for his signature, according to Goal
The 20-year-old is one of the most in-demand midfielders in Europe at the moment after impressing in Serie A with Chelsea and Arsenal also linked with a move for him.
Atalanta reportedly value Kessie at £30m and PSG have already made an initial bid of £21m for the Ivory Coast international who is currently away on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations.
Kessie would certainly be an excellent option for United, particularly as they seek a replacement for Michael Carrick.
The 35-year-old has been superb for the Red Devils this season but his current deal expires at the end of the season and it remains to be seen if he will be offered a new deal.
Even if Carrick does remain at the club, Jose Mourinho will still need a replacement as the midfielder comes to the end of a brilliant career with the club.
United have not lost with Carrick in the team this season, a record of 17 games in which the Red Devils have won 14 and drawn just three.
The former England international brings control and a superb array of passing and has formed an excellent partnership alongside Ander Herrera in central midfield.
His importance to the team cannot be underestimated and while United also have Marouane Fellaini he simply does not have the same influence on games that Carrick does.
Kessie could therefore prove the perfect signing. The 20-year-old has been linkened to compatriot Yaya Toure and is a powerful midfield presence.
He can sit in front of the defence but also possesses the ability to attack, has an eye for goal and still just 20 clearly has a big future ahead of him.
United have spent big on youngsters in recent seasons with Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba the highest-profile signing, while the exciting Marcus Rashford has come up through the ranks.
Kessie is yet another exciting young talent who could have big future at Old Trafford and would fill a position where a new young talent is increasingly needed.
