£36m star’s agent sends message to Ed Woodward amid transfer speculation

Anthony Martial‘s agent has spoken out amid speculation the forward could leave Manchester United in the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old has scored 25 goals in 91 appearances for the Red Devils since joining back in 2015 for a reported fee of £36m, but reports suggest Jose Mourinho is open to selling him ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.

However, Martial’s representative, Philippe Lamboley, stressed that the Frenchman is committed to United and lifted the lid on a recent meeting with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward.

‘Martial has two years left and there is no reason for him to leave Manchester today,’ Lamboley said.

‘If Ed Woodward tells me they want him to leave, things are different.

‘But that is not what he told me during our last meeting.’

Jose Mourinho discussing Martial’s attitude in April

‘He has to understand what we need from him but it’s not just for us but it’s also for him.

‘If he wants to become a very special player – he can do that – then he has to go in a certain direction and today he showed this attitude and appetite.’

It’s understood West Ham are eyeing a surprise move for the France international, with Slaven Bilic on the hunt for attacking reinforcements this summer.
