Champions League giants in surprise talks to sign Man Utd hero

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s agent Mino Raiola is reportedly considering a number of transfer offers for the former Manchester United striker after he failed to earn a new contract at Old Trafford.

The Swedish striker spent one season at United and performed well with 28 goals in all competitions, though an injury towards the end of the campaign looks to have ended his time in England.

However, Atletico Madrid are now among the clubs leading the chase for Ibrahimovic as he steps up his recovery, as they eye a big-name centre-forward signing for January.

Atletico have been hit with a transfer ban until the middle of the season, but the timing could work out well for them as they weigh up swooping for Ibrahimovic when he expects to make a full recovery.

According to Sport, Raiola still harbours some hope that he could earn himself another chance at United, as he continues to use the club’s facilities as he looks to get back to full fitness.

Still, with the Red Devils reportedly closing in on the signing of Alvaro Morata to replace Ibrahimovic this summer, the 35-year-old may feel he is better off elsewhere.

Diego Simeone is known to be keen on signing a new striker for next season as well, with Chelsea’s Diego Costa and Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette also linked with the Spanish giants this summer.
