Deadline given: Journo reveals truth behind £22m Man Utd deal

WEST BROM have set Manchester United a deadline for their interest in midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

West Brom had an £18million bid rejected last month but are prepared to go as high as the £22m asking price. But, according to the Birmingham Mail, they want to know if Schneiderlin would seriously consider a move to Hawthorns – and if United will accept £22m for him.

However, Sky Sports expert James Cooper beleives there are four more clubs who are in the mix.

He told Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre: “It’s an interesting one. Morgan Schneiderlin is desperate to play anywhere but Manchester United.

“It’s a strange thing to say – especially on the day of a cup semi-final [against Hull[ – but he knows he’s not going to be involved and wants to play somewhere else.

“Everton are in the mix but there are four or five others clubs looking at him seriously.

“And Everton, when it comes to cash, might not be the frontrunner as it stands.

“The club who gets near to £24m that United paid may find the key to a deal to get Schneiderlin there.

“Time is on United’s side with this one – even if it isn’t on the player’s.”

Schneiderlin joined United from Southampton but struggled under Louis van Gaal and has barely featured under Jose Mourinho.

And the Portuguese says he – along with Memphis Depay – can go for the right price.
