Swansea City manager Carlos Carvalhal has issued a message to Jose Mourinho over his rumoured interest in defender Alfie Mawson.
Mawson has attracted attention this season for a string of solid performances for the Swans, in a campaign which has seen him make 38 appearances so far.
One of the clubs said to be interested in signing the defender is Manchester United, but the Swansea boss revealed he is yet to hear from his friend Mourinho.
Carvalhal and Mourinho are said to be close after the pair studied for their UEFA Pro Licence together, while the United boss also invited Carvalhal to previously watch training sessions when in charge of Chelsea and Real Madrid.
However, the pair came face-to-face in the Premier League for the first time as managers on March 31 when the Red Devils beat the Welsh side 2-0 at Old Trafford.
‘I’m not [aware] – as you know I have relations with Mourinho and he never told me about that,’ said Carvalhal. ‘If Manchester United is interested in him – or City, Chelsea or Liverpool – it’s not a surprise because he’s a very, very good player.
‘I look at this in a positive way. I’m very happy about that. If the big clubs are interested in our players, even if there’s a tiny chance of us trying to improve the players and put them on a level that national teams and big clubs look to them, it’s part of our job. I’m happy about that, not worried.
‘I believe [Mourinho would tell me if he was interested].’
