Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has refused to comment directly about supposed interest in Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea.
The 26-year-old has been a long-term target for Los Blancos while the reports suggested that the Royal club have made a £60m move for the Spanish international.
However, Perez remained coy on any such move and told Atresmedia in the midst of his club’s Champions League trophy celebrations:
” De Gea is a great goalkeeper who plays for United. I don’t know where he will play next season because I’m not a fortune teller.”
Madrid’s number one goalkeeper Keylor Navas has come under increased scrutiny this season following a prolonged run of poor form but finished the season strongly.
Since joining United from boyhood club Atletico Madrid in 2011 he’s established himself as an instrumental figure at Old Trafford after initially struggling to adapt to the rigours of English football.
To date, De Gea has made 269 appearances for the Red Devils across all competitions, keeping 96 clean sheets whilst conceding 275 goals.
As a consequence of his stellar performances he’s been named Manchester United’s Player of the Year on three occasions.
This season just gone, the Spaniard made 45 appearances, managing to keep 16 shutouts with 14 of those coming in the Premier League.
