Yaya Toure has revealed that Manchester United star Paul Pogba ignored his advice to join him at Manchester City before his transfer back to Old Trafford.
The Ivorian midfielder says he’s a fan of the Frenchman, though he couldn’t hide his disappointment that he failed in his efforts to lure him to the Etihad Stadium from his previous club Juventus.
Pogba ended up linking up with the Red Devils for a second spell last summer, moving in a world-record £89million transfer having left on a free as a youngster just four years earlier.
City were among a number of clubs linked with Pogba during his time at Juve, and Toure has explained how he played his part in trying to get him to choose the blue half of Manchester instead.
‘He (Pogba) is a good lad,’ Toure said.
‘He’s clever and I’m a bit disappointed because I spoke with him in the past and I wanted him to come to City but it didn’t happen.’
