Jose Mourinho Agrees the Deal For 24-year-old Stopper

SAM JOHNSTONE is heading back to Aston Villa.

Johnstone moved to the Championship club on loan in January.

Steve Bruce got him on board as he tried to whip the Birmingham side into shape for a promotion challenge.

Villa ended up well off the pace, but thoughts are now on how to do better next term.

Bruce already appears to have sorted out one key addition.

The Sunday People claimed yesterday that Jose Mourinho has approved a season-long loan move to Villa Park for Johnstone.

Mourinho recalled youngster Joel Pereira from a loan move to Portugual in January to replace Johnstone as third-choice at Old Trafford.

David de Gea is the club’s No.1 with Sergio Romero his backup.

Pereira made his United debut against Wigan in the FA Cup win earlier this season.

And Mourinho has confirmed he’ll play the Portuguese youngster against Crystal Palace next weekend.

Johnstone made 22 appearances for Villa following his switch in early January.
