Jose Mourinho Identified England International Star as a Replacement for David De Gea
Jose Mourinho wants to sign Joe Hart as David De Gea’s replacement for Manchester United, according to reports in Spain.
Marca claim that in a meeting earlier in April, De Gea informed United that he wants to join Real Madrid and asked his club to begin transfer negotiations.
But Marca also report that Mourinho is ‘already clear’ on having Hart as the Spaniard’s successor at Old Trafford.
Madrid are willing to pay around £63 million for De Gea, which would be a world-record fee for a goalkeeper.
Hart, meanwhile, is currently spending the season on loan in Serie A at Torino but is expected to be sold by Manchester City this summer.
Last week, reports claimed that Liverpool were on the verge of securing a £20 million deal for the 30-year-old, although Jurgen Klopp has categorically denied any interest in a move.
Hart has already admitted he is will be looking for a new club this summer after being frozen out by Pep Guardiola, but is not ruling out another move away from the Premier League.
‘I’d say I’m pretty much surplus to requirements at my parent club at the moment,’ the England international told the BBC’s Premier League Show.
‘I want to play football, I love to play football. If that opportunity’s not going to be given there then I’m going to have to look elsewhere and I may have to make somewhere else my home.
‘I don’t know where my future lies, in terms of time-wise, because I’ve certainly had no communication with anyone.
‘I love the Premier League but I wouldn’t say it’s top of my wishlist. Top of my wishlist is to play for a club that wants me to be their goalkeeper.’
