Manchester United have watched Las Palmas centre-back Mauricio Lemos in recent weeks. The 20-year-old was a summer target for Barcelona just weeks after Las Palmas exercised an option to buy him permanently for €2million from Russian side Rubin Kazan.
United watched Lemos in action in La Liga last month, according to the Sunday People. They also watched him in his side’s Copa del Rey game with lower-league side Huesca.
Barcelona offered €4million with add-ons totalling a further €8million. But Las Palmas stood firm over the fee and Lemos himself feared he wouldn’t get much of a chance in the Barca first team.
His release clause stands at €30million but Las Palmas would be open to doing a deal at a lower fee.
The Sunday Express adds Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani to the list of Manchester United targets. However, the Uruguay international is more likely to sign a new deal with the Ligue 1 club.
