The Croatian midfielder has been linked away from Camp Nou, with the Red Devils, Juventus and Chelsea all said to be interested, but looks likely to sign a new deal
The Croatian has been a key player since his arrival from Sevilla in 2014 but has recently lost importance following the signings of Andre Gomes and Denis Suarez.
The €44m-rated Rakitic has started 10 of Barcelona’s 15 La Liga games, however, and is still seen as a key part of Luis Enrique’s squad and is therefore expected to sign a new deal at the club.
The 28-year-old, in La Liga, has scored two goals this season, creating 11 chances and one assist. He has completed 556 passes this season with a pass accuracy of 88%, of which 68% were forward passes.
In November, the Croatian’s agent Arturo Canales also revealed that his client is “very happy” at Camp Nou.
“Ivan is very happy at FC Barcelona, where he has been tremendously successful and has a contract with the club until 2019,” the agent said as reported by Manchester Evening News.
Juventus and Chelsea are also said to be interested in signing the midfielder, and Real Madrid have also been linked, but Rakitic’s agent has denied speculation surrounding a summer exit.
