Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has urged his old club to sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal.
There remains much uncertainty regarding Sanchez’s future at Emirates Stadium, with the attacker yet to commit to a new deal beyond his current contract, which expires at the end of next season.
United are amongst the clubs to have been linked with Sanchez and Giggs believes that Jose Mourinho should go all out to try and sign the Chile international.
As reported by Manchester Evening News, Giggs said: “[He’s] a brilliant player. His work rate, the effect he has on his team-mates, a winner.
“He just looks how South Americans are, tough aren’t they.
“Yeah. Jose Mourinho bought [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic because he is a winner.
“He’s won everywhere he’s gone. Not only the effect on the pitch but off the pitch as well.
“You can just feel that Sanchez would give his team-mates a lift.”
An extremely skilful player who is capable of performing effectively as a winger or up front, Sanchez has scored 21 times in the Premier League this season, while he has created 76 chances.
Arsenal will be determined to keep Sanchez, who carried the team at times earlier in the campaign, but whether they will be able to persuade him to stay could well depend on whether the club can secure a place in next season’s Champions League.
Sanchez scored and set up a goal in Arsenal’s 4-0 thrashing of Stoke City last weekend. He is now one of just four players across Europe’s top five leagues to have reached double figures for both goals and assists in the league this season, with Barcelona pair Luis Suarez and Neymar and Napoli’s Jose Callejon the other players to have achieved that feat.
