MANCHESTER UNITED have agreed a deal with Juventus defender Alex Sandro.
Sandro has been on the radar of the Premier League giants since January and they look to now be closing in on completing a transfer.
Rivals Chelsea were keen on the Brazilian left-back last summer but Antonio Conte couldn’t get a deal done. And it now appears he could pitch up at Old Trafford in time for the start of next season in August.
Journalist Duncan Castles revealed the news on the latest episode of The Transfer Window podcast. He says personal terms have been sorted with the player, however a transfer fee is yet to be agreed with the Serie A champions.
When discussing the future of another of Europe’s most-valued left-backs – Celtic’s Kieran Tierney – Castles said: “Manchester United decided to go for Alex Sandro, they’ve put a deal in place with the player, the player wants to come, and Juventus are holding out for upwards of €60m (£53m).”
Jose Mourinho has Ashley Young and Luke Shaw as his left-back options, although Daley Blind, Marcos Rojo and Matteo Darmian can also fill in.
Blind and Darmian look likely to leave Old Trafford this summer, however, leading to the Manchester United boss looking to strengthen with a top-class replacement.
