Manchester United are reportedly closing in on the signing of CSKA Moscow star Aleksandr Golovin.
Golovin has scored 13 goals in 113 games for CSKA since breaking into the first-team back in 2014 but the 22-year-old midfielder is being heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.
Jose Mourinho was in the stands as Austria defeated Russia in Innsbruck on Wednesday evening and Marko Arnautovic was being closely watched by United’s boss. However, according to The Sun, the main purpose of Mourinho’s visit was to keep an eye on Golovin.
It’s claimed the Red Devils are closing in on a £15million move for Golovin and view the Russian as a potential long-term replacement for Juan Mata.
Golovin is Russia’s poster boy going into this summer’s World Cup and Mourinho is aiming to get a head start on United’s rivals ahead of the tournament.
Arnautovic remains a target for United and claimed it was an ‘honour’ to be watched by Mourinho in Austria.
‘It is a great honour for our entire team that a coach like Mourinho is watching us,’ the West Ham forward told Kurier.
Mourinho told reporters that he attended the match as he happened to be on holiday in the Tyrol region of Austria.
