According to the Spanish media outlets, Manchester United are understood to have ended their interest in Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti.
As per the Marca, the Red Devils have conceded defeat in their efforts to sign the France international, amid reports that he is on the verge of renewing his contract with the Spanish giants.
The 24-year-old Umtiti is under contract with the Catalan club until 2021 but his current deal is said to include a €60m release clause that interested parties could trigger.
Reports, however, suggest that the club is keen to quash the speculation surrounding the 24-year-old’s future by agreeing fresh terms with him.
Umtiti joined Barca from French outfit Lyon in 2016.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils were determined to sign Los Blancos midfield star Toni Kroos during the recently closed winter transfer window.
The deal shows no signs of succeeding yet, but the Red Devil’s supporters will be delighted to know that the United are expected to attempt signing the German international over the forthcoming summer window.
No need to argue that Kroos is an essential player for the Spanish giants and they will not agree to a sell the 28-year-old midfielder in the first place.
Taking into account the unfortunate season the Spanish club has been having, they wouldn’t mind reconstructing their team at the end of the season which would cause them to sell some of their top players too.
