JAMES RODRIGUEZ is reportedly pushing for a move to Manchester United.
The Real Madrid midfielder has struggled for game time under Zinedine Zidane this season.
And with Madrid chief Florentino Perez set to splash the cash in the summer, Rodriguez is moving ever closer to an exit.
Rodriguez has been linked with a host of clubs in recent weeks with Manchester United, Arsenal and Bayern Munich all thought to be showing interest.
But Spanish publication Diario Gol claim Rodriguez has decided he wants a fresh start at Old Trafford with Jose Mourinho also keen to sign him.
The report suggests the Colombian has instructed his agent Jorge Mendes to make a deal happen, while Mourinho has also approved a proposal to bring him to the club.
Mourinho is keen to strengthen his options in midfield and attack in the summer with Wayne Rooney, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Michael Carrick all facing uncertain futures.
But prising Rodriguez away from the Spanish capital is proving difficult with Perez reluctant to budge on his £50million valuation.
United have so far been put off by the fee and that is thought to have stalled the transfer process.
Rodriguez is still under contract with Madrid until 2020 and Perez wants to recoup as much as he can from the estimated £63m he paid Monaco in 2014.
