Manchester United are reportedly considering offering Paul Pogba to Real Madrid as a makeweight in a deal that will bring Gareth Bale to Old Trafford.
The Wales international has often been used as a back-up player in Los Blancos’ biggest matches this term, leading to speculation about his long-term future.
United are said to be long-term admirers of Bale and, according to Don Balon, are preparing to offer Pogba in exchange for his signature this summer.
Real, however, are allegedly more interested in using Bale as a makeweight in a bid for Liverpool’s free-scoring striker Mohamed Salah.
Rumours of a rift between Bale and manager Zinedine Zidane intensified last week when he was hauled off during Real’s 3-1 defeat to Juventus in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
Meanwhile, Ander Herrera revealed he is unsure whether he will be wearing a Manchester United shirt beyond next season.
The Spaniard has played 154 times for the Red Devils over four seasons, but his current deal at the club is set to expire at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.
Despite talks currently ongoing regarding a new contract, Herrera isn’t confident he’ll be signing one.
‘I will definitely see out the year I have left but I don’t know if I will sign a new one,’ Herrera told Mundo Deportivo. ‘We have started talking, but nothing has been decided yet.’
