Manchester United have already opened talks with Alex Sandro and Samuel Umtiti as Jose Mourinho plots a major overhaul of his defence this summer, reports claim.
The Portuguese is frustrated by his lack of options in defensive positions and is ready to seriously upgrade his back line. And he is willing to splash more than £100million on the pair in order to seriously challenge Manchester City next season, according to The Times.
Barcelona centre-back Umtiti has a release clause of £52.5m, although the Catalan giants are looking to tie him down to a new deal.
Juventus, meanwhile, are willing to sell Sandro but will demand a fee of at least £50m. Mourinho is convinced the pair will transform United’s outlook on the pitch against the stronger teams, allowing the club to adopt less of a defensive approach in the big matches.
He has been reliant on 32-year-old duo Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia in the full-back areas this season, with Matteo Darmian and Luke Shaw both failing to make an impact under the former Chelsea and Real Madrid boss.
The pair, along with Daley Blind look set to be moved on as part of a major summer overhaul.
