Manchester United winger Ashley Young has admitted he does not know what his future holds ahead of this summer’s transfer window.
The 31-year-old is reported to have turned down an offer from Chinese Super League club Shandong in January, but has not been a regular for the Red Devils for some time.
Still, Jose Mourinho selected Young as captain for United’s win over Chelsea at the weekend, and his combination of experience and versatility makes him a valuable squad player at Old Trafford.
Young himself, however, is keen to play and says that is likely to affect what decision he makes on his future at the end of this season.
‘There is always speculation, especially when there is a transfer window and you’re not playing,’ the former England wide-man said.
‘But I have always said that I want to play as much as possible. What the future holds, I’m not too sure.
‘I’m looking to play as many games as I can between now and the end of the season. That’s what I’m concentrating on now. That’s the main focus for me and then we’ll see what happens.
