Man Utd £100m-rated target backed to become the best player in the world

ANTOINE GRIEZMANN has been backed to become the best player in the world.Manchester United are likely to step up their interest in Griezmann once the transfer window re-opens in the summer.

Jose Mourinho targeted Griezmann even before Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s injury but will have the extra incentive to bring in a world-class striker to compete on all fronts next season.

Griezmann has improved on an annual basis to become one of the world’s leading strikers and finished third in the 2016 Best FIFA Men’s Player Award – only behind Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

But Griezmann’s compatriot Trezeguet believes it won’t be long until the France international will be spoken about in the same breath as the two best players in the world.“Both Messi and Ronaldo are players who have demonstrated unique potential throughout their careers and I’m sure Antoine views them as examples to follow in order to keep developing and to win titles,” Trezeguet told FIFA.“He’s a young player, he’s got the ability and he’s performing in a team that’s been built around him.

“‘El Cholo’ Simeone, a coach we all know well and who’s considered among the best in the world, has motivated him a lot and now we’re starting to see his quality.

“I think Griezmann’s got all the attributes to succeed those other two geniuses.”
