Man Utd £60,000-a-week Star a Surprise Candidate to Replace €17m Barcelona Flop

Manchester United right-back Matteo Darmian is a surprise transfer option for Barcelona, with Luis Enrique’s men considering a move for the Italian according to Don Balon.

The Catalan giants lost long-term stalwart Dani Alves to Juventus over the summer and have mostly been fielding Sergi Roberto in the role since the Brazilian’s departure.

Aleix Vidal was added to the Blaugrana contingent last year for reported fee of  €17m ,but the former Sevilla man is out of favour at Camp Nou and being tipped with an exit.

If he does leave the Catalan giants, Barcelona are expected to sign another right-back either in January or next summer to bolster Enrique’s group.

Darmian, who reportedly earns £60,000-a-week at United,  is being tipped with an Old Trafford exit in January, with the former Torino defender behind Antonio Valencia in Jose Mourinho’s pecking order.

Although a loan stint back in Serie A is being touted consistently, Barcelona may well offer the Italy international an appealing alternative.

The La Liga champions were reported suitors of Darmian back in his Torino days and as such the Catalans could return for the defender if the latest report is to be believed.
