Manchester United face missing out on Torino striker Andrea Belotti to Premier League rivals Chelsea, according to reports.
Belotti has enjoyed a fantastic season in Italy, scoring 30 goals in 38 games in all competitions, and will be the subject of much speculation this summer.
The 23-year-old has an £84million release clause written into his current contract and Jose Mourinho’s United are said to be monitoring his situation.
The Red Devils have been repeatedly linked with the 23-year-old recently and after Zlatan Ibrahimovic was ruled out for several months, Mourinho is expected to sign a frontman during the summer window.
While reports claim United are ready to spend £170million on Belotti and Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann, Mourinho could be set for disappointment in his pursuit of the Italian.
Sky Sport Italia say Belotti will only consider moving to a club that can offer him Champions League football and United are yet to secure their place for the 2017-18 campaign.
Mourinho’s charge are one point behind fourth-placed Manchester City in the table, meaning they may need to win the Europa League to make a return to the Champions League.
United face Spanish outfit Celta Vigo in the first leg of their semi-final clash on Thursday, before the return fixture at Old Trafford takes place the following week.
