CHELSEA and Manchester United reportedly face being beaten to the punch by Paris St-Germain in the race to sign Santos starlet Thiago Maia.
According to Calciomercato, Maia is the subject of interest from a host of top European clubs.
Chelsea and United are said to be currently monitoring the 19-year-old midfielder.
However the Premier League duo are yet to make their interest concrete and that could play into the hands of PSG.
The French champions are apparently keen to bolster their midfield options when the transfer window reopens in January.
And Calciomercato claim they are prepared to pay around £17m in order to land Maia.
Juventus are also said to be interested in signing the Brazil Under-23 international, although they are only willing to part with £8.5m for his services.
Maia has made 16 appearances in the Brazilian top-flight this season, failing to score a goal or register an assist in the process.
He has two-and-a-half years left to run on his current Santos deal.
