Man Utd In Talks to Finally Agree the Deal For World-class Central-midfielder
MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly offered Bastian Schweinsteiger to Fenerbahce, reports claim.
Turkish publication HTSPOR claim Jose Mourinho has told Fenerbahce manager Dick Advocaat that Schweinsteiger is available.
The midfielder arrived during Louis van Gaal’s tenure for £6.5m from Bayern Munich but has seen a paltry 16-minutes of competitive action under Mourinho.
Schweinsteiger, 32, was banished to the reserve-team dressing room at the beginning of the season and although he’s back in the squad – his Old Trafford future looks bleak.
But Fenerbahce, who qualified for the Europa League knockout stages along with Manchester United, aren’t assured of securing his services.
The Daily Star Sunday claim Schweinsteiger has a lucrative contract offer from an unnamed Chinese Super League club.
And they would be prepared to match his current £175k-a-week wage.
Mourinho, whose side drew 1-1 with Stoke on Saturday, recently admitted Schweinsteiger could stay at Manchester United and praised his determination.
He said: “Of course he can stay. If you have a contract, you are the powerful one that can decide your future. In January he is the powerful one – and with better feelings than before.
“Everybody was happy because when he was not training he fought against that and managed to do it without injury.
“He had been working for months and I thought it could be a good opportunity for him to play and help us.”
