Manchester United have joined Arsenal, Chelsea in a fight to sign young Atalanta prospect Mattia Caldara, according to reports from Gazetta dello Sport.
The 22-year-old has made his mark with Atalanta this season after spending most of the past two on loan at Trapani and Cesena.
The Italian has impressed defensively this season, while also demonstrating an attacking threat for the Serie A side. He’s netted three times and on current form has attracted the interest of Europe’s best.
The reports from Italy claim that Juventus are also keeping tabs on the centre-back, who will now appears to be closely monitored by some of Europe’s elite.
Atalanta are preparing to fend off January offers, but it will take a substantial bid for the defender given he is under contract until 2021.
And it is definitive that Caldara, who was born in Bergamo, would seek a move from his hometown club so quickly after breaking through into the first team.
