After his heroics at the European Championships last summer, Renato Sanches had plenty of potential suitors, but months after signing for German champions Bayern Munich, it looks like his time at the club is all but over.
Sanches has struggled to maintain a place in the first team this season, and only completed his first Bundesliga game in the 1-0 victory over Darmstadt last Saturday.
Well, it now looks like Bayern are ready to replace the Portugal international in the summer.
It is being reported that Bayern are looking at Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka as a potential replacement for Sanches, and his cut-price value could be a deal-maker following the sum they paid for the 19-year-old.
But who will sign him?
It looks like Manchester United will make another bid to sign the talented midfielder this summer, as Bayern are willing to accept a £29.5m offer for the 19-year-old – the amount they paid Benfica back in May last year.
Jose Mourinho has always been an admirer of the youngster. Back in May, Mourinho admitted that he tried to sign Sanches, but his late arrival scuppered a potential deal:
Mourinho told Sport TV: “I arrived late. I signed in May, we started talking a week before, but completely out of the process. If I had arrived earlier, I’d fight for him.
“Manchester United watched Renato many times and maybe I did it even more. In so much time at home, I watched many Benfica and Portuguese league games, I got to know the boy better with time.”
“He’s in a big club, in a league where he’ll certainly be the champion. The club have players of very high level which belong to the structure, a little like Benfica.”

Of course, Bayern Munich decided to pay £30 million, but it has been revealed that Ancelotti’s side added a clause to the deal which makes him the most expensive signing in The Bavarians’ 117 year history.
A clause in the deal states that if, and when, Renato Sanches makes 25 appearances for Bayern – then the club will pay Benfica an extra £4 million, according to German publication BILD.
According to reports, Sanches’ deal could finally be worth around £68 million based on his achievements and appearances.
