Manchester United are yet to bring in a new midfielder this season, which, in my opinion, is one of the areas Jose Mourinho needs to strengthen in. There have been several links with a move to bring in Fabinho, but those don’t seem to be going anywhere.
Furthermore than that, the Red Devils have already tabled personal terms for his services, worth a huge £6.6million a year. The 29-year-old has proven himself as one of the best box-to-box midfielders in world football over the last few years in the Serie A – and he’d be an insane acquisition if the club could pull it off.
I just think that Manchester United need a more defensive-minded midfielder who could come in and do the dirty work – allowing both Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba to do what they do best in the final third of the field.
Nainggolan would fill that void excellently. He’ll cover every blade of grass for his teammates, putting in tackles and making combative plays. What’s better than that is he can play a bit, too, and is always good for the odd goal here and there.
It may be an expensive deal, especially for a man who is approaching 30, but it is one that would make our starting line-up so much stronger from the get-go
