Marcus Rashford is reportedly set to land himself a £10,000-a-week pay rise from Manchester United after impressing Jose Mourinho with his form in the latter stages of the season.
The 19-year-old striker took a while to get going under Mourinho, having burst onto the scene in spectacular fashion towards the end of Louis van Gaal’s reign last term.
United now look set to reward him for his tremendous work ethic that has seen him become a trusted member of Mourinho’s squad, which has proven to be no mean feat given the struggles of other more senior players to impress the Portuguese this season.
Rashford currently earns around £30,000 per week, but The Sun claim he’ll see that bumped up this summer with the possibility of a review again in twelve months’ time.
This show of faith from his club and manager could be significant ahead of what looked like being a difficult transfer window for the youngster, with a number of big name strikers linked with moves to Old Trafford.
Antoine Griezmann has been most strongly linked with United, which would likely have pushed Rashford out wide or even onto the bench once again.
Still, with Mourinho clearly happy with the England international’s progress, this pay rise suggests he remains a valued member of the Red Devils squad.
