Man Utd star explains why the teammate could snub £60m transfer

JUAN MATA sees no reason for Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea to leave anytime soon.

As another fine campaign for De Gea comes to a close, speculation continues over the 26-year-old swapping Manchester United for Real Madrid this summer for a reported fee of £60m.

De Gea, United’s Player of the Year for the past three seasons, was set to join Real in 2015, only for his transfer to collapse on deadline day.

Madrid are said to have the Spain goalkeeper in their crosshairs once more, but Mata is hopeful his compatriot and team-mate will stay put.

“Well, I think he is happy and I think he is obviously committed to the club. He has got a contract,” Mata said.

“He is obviously more than used to living England, he is happy in Manchester.

“For me, he is great – great person, great player. If not the best goalkeeper in the world, top three for sure.

“He gave us a lot of points during the last seasons, player of the season for the team, and obviously he is happy and I don’t see a reason for him to change.

“So let’s hope that he can save so many more goals for us.”
