MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly suffered a serious blow in their pursuit of Tottenham star Eric Dier.
The England international joined Spurs from Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon in a £4m deal three years ago.
And he’s since established himself as a firm favourite among the Tottenham faithful, impressing in defensive and midfield roles.
The Guardian reckon Dier’s form under Mauricio Pochettino has seen United boss Jose Mourinho eye him up as the perfect foil for Paul Pogba.
But Tottenham are reportedly holding firm on their stance that the 23-year-old will not be allowed to move on to pastures new.
According to the Daily Mail, Spurs have warned interested parties that Dier is not for sale at any price.
And that warning came after Tottenham were contacted over a potential deal by United earlier this year.
The Daily Mail say no talks over Dier have taken place since the end of the 2016/17 campaign.
And Pochettino is desperate to retain his services as Tottenham look to build on last term’s second-place finish.
One player the Argentinian is prepared to sell though is Dier’s countryman Kyle Walker, 27.
However, Manchester City are yet to meet the £50m price tag Tottenham have slapped on him.
