Manchester United have joined the race for Aaron Martin.
According to a report on talkSPORT the Espanyol defender was watched by United in the weekend win over Alaves.
Martin has had an outstanding first season in La Liga with Real Madrid and Manchester City also keeping tabs on his development.
The 19-year-old has stepped up from the Espanyol second string last season and hasn’t looked out of place against some of the biggest names in the game.
United are keen to bring in the best young talent in the game after things went stale with their academy which has been the backbone of the club for decades.
Bringing in the best emerging players in the 19-21 age bracket allows Jose Mourinho to buy some time and keeps the spending down with established first team players costing £50m a time.
Espanyol are keen to get Martin on a new deal but wouldn’t be able to compete with the salaries available with a big money transfer.
