Manchester United are being linked with a move for Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel as doubts surround David de Gea’s future.
Reports claim United are confident of fighting off interest from Real Madrid for De Gea, but that is not stopping Jose Mourinho keeping an eye on the market should he need a replacement.
Despite a season of struggle for the Foxes, Schmeichel has still been one of the standout keepers in the Premier League this season, and it is no surprise to see him linked with rival clubs.
Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak has also been heavily linked but it would take £85million to activate his release clause and Mourinho could save a fortune by targeting Schmeichel instead.
The Portuguese also likes the fact that Schmeichel has plenty of top-flight experience and could settle into his squad much quicker.
However Leicester are under no pressure to sell and, with another season’s worth of Premier League cash heading to the King Power Stadium, will do all they can to resist any offer United may put forward.
