Meet Two Prolific Strikers Who Could Replace Ibrahimovic Next Season
Torino striker Andrea Belotti and Everton’s Romelu Lukaku are on Jose Mourinho’s shortlist of candidates to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Manchester United, according to reports.
The Manchester Evening News claims that Mourinho is in the market for the new striker but in the event that the Swede ends his time at Old Trafford after just one season, moves for Belotti or Lukaku will be considered.
Ibrahimovic’s current contract with United will expire this summer and he has not yet signed an extension with the club.
Belotti, meanwhile, is enjoying a stellar season at Torino and is currently joint-top scorer in Serie A with 24 goals in 28 appearances so far.
The 23-year-old, who has also been linked with Chelsea, has a €100m (£86.5m) buyout clause that applies to foreign clubs, while Torino boss Sinisa Mihajlovic said at the weekend that he believes the striker will stay this summer.
United are also expected to face competition for the signing of Lukaku this summer.
The Belgian, who is valued at £70m, has already registered his best-ever tally in a Premier League campaign with 23 goals in 31 games so far.
Following his double in the 4-2 victory over Leicester City on Sunday, Everton boss Ronald Koeman admitted that Lukaku will decide his own future this summer.
‘Everybody knows he’s a key player for Everton and we will try to do everything to keep him here but the final decision is always with the player,’ said the Dutchman.
‘Everyone knows he has his own ambition but we will try our best.’
