Midfield Powerhouse Agrees Personal Terms Ahead Of Proposed £40m Move To Man Utd

Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic has agreed personal terms with Manchester United ahead of a proposed switch to Old Trafford this summer, according to the Manchester Evening News via The Sun.

Matic’s future at Stamford Bridge has been in serious doubt in recent weeks amid reports that Chelsea are closing-in on a £35m deal to sign Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

The Express are reporting today that the Blues have agreed terms with the Ligue 1 champions with Bakayoko expected to undergo his medical and pen a five-year contract next week.

The Frenchman’s arrival would see Matic fall down Antonio Conte’s pecking order and the Serbian international has been strongly linked with a move to United this summer.

It seems a deal has moved a step closer to becoming a reality as The Sun are citing a report from the Manchester Evening News that claims Matic has now agreed personal terms over a move to Old Trafford.

The newspaper says that United are still in talks with Chelsea over a fee but if the player has been allowed to negotiate terms with the Manchester giants then you’d assume a deal can’t be too far away.

We’ll have to see how negotiations progress over the coming days but the Manchester Evening News had previously reported that United were hoping to get a deal agreed at around £40m.

Jose Mourinho is in the market for a new midfielder to act as a long-term replacement for Michael Carrick and it looks as though he’s eyeing a reunion with Matic at Old Trafford.

The ‘Special One’ re-signed Matic during his time at Chelsea back in 2014 and the Serbian played a key role in helping the west Londoners win the Premier League title that season.

However, it seems the 28-year-old is set for a surprise switch to United this summer and I think Matic will prove to be an excellent addition to Mourinho’s squad if they manage to get this deal over the line.
