Mourinho Determined to Bring the Former Man Utd Star Back to Old Trafford
Jose Mourinho and Manchester United are certainly in the business of signing former players for a higher price than at which they were let go. This much is clear after a world record summer move for Paul Pogba.
While this time around, they are not discussing fees in the region of £89 million, the Red Devils are nonetheless looking to bolster their squad so that they can secure more wins.
Mourinho’s side dug out three points against Tottenham at the weekend, but this was after a string of disappointing draws from winning positions, against the likes of Arsenal, West Ham and Everton.
According to a report in The Sun, United are set to move for Burnley star Michael Keane. The 23 year-old left Old Trafford in 2015 after making just one appearance for United, and has since thrived at Turf Moor.
One of the first names on the team sheet for manager Sean Dyche, Keane has been instrumental in defence, and even earned a call-up to the England squad.
This is an area where United need to strengthen in January if they are to push on in the second half of the season. Eric Bailly will depart for the African Cup of Nations, which leaves Mourinho with less options at the back.
The re-signing of Keane would be seen by many as a strange move considering it is not long since he left the Red Devils, but one must look at his impressive form for the Clarets to see what value he would add.
