Not Danny Rose – Man United have made English gifted left-back as next possible target

Nottingham Forest defender Matthew Bondswell has reportedly emerged as a possible transfer target for Manchester United.

Manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen to strengthen his first-team squad in the full-back positions, but it appears that United are also placing focus on their academy setup.

According to the Daily Mail, United are keen to take advantage of the contract situation involving Forest and Bondswell, with the 16-year-old yet to pen professional terms at the City Ground.

The Championship side have offered the teenager a deal but there have been no indications that it will be signed, leaving United in a position where they could make an approach for the left-back.

Southampton are also said to be interested but as it stands, United are considered to be the favourites to push through a transfer.

Meanwhile, Jamie Redknapp believes Jose Mourinho has produced one of the most ‘boring’ Manchester United sides of all-time and says the club need to sign Gareth Bale to bring some excitement back to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils finished off their Premier League season with a 1-0 win against Watford at Old Trafford on Sunday but they cemented second spot with a dour 0-0 against West Ham three days earlier.

United face Chelsea in the final of the FA Cup next Saturday and a win against the Blues will mean a third trophy in two seasons for Mourinho at Old Trafford. However, while United finished the season with the second best defence, they were the league’s fifth highest scorers.

And Redknapp believes the Red Devils need Real Madrid outcast Bale to bring a new dynamic to Mourinho’s side.
