Not James: Euro giants ready to accept Man United’s €70m bid for South American

Paris Saint-Germain are ready to open talks with Manchester United over a deal for Marquinhos, according to reports in Brazil and France.

PSG rejected Barcelona’s €50 million (£42m) offer for Marquinhos last year, but Sport are now claiming that United are ready to submit a bid worth €70m (£60m), which the French champions are ready to accept.

Marquinhos’ current deal with PSG will have two years remaining on it at the end of the season but after failing to successfully negotiate an extension, the French champions are now ready to cash in on the 23-year-old as they run the risk of losing him for a cut-price fee next summer.

Globo Esporte, meanwhile, report that the Brazil centre-back is fully aware of United’s interest and is considering the prospect of joining Jose Mourinho’s side this summer.

PSG have reportedly asked Marquinhos not to take any action over his future before their Coupe de France final against Angers of May 27, but the Brazilian has publicly stated his desire to stay.

‘My future? I will be here next season to win back the title,’ he said on Tuesday.

‘I will 100 percent be Parisien.’

After struggling for playing time last season, Marquinhos has become more of a regular this season following David Luiz’s departure to Chelsea.

The defender has featured in 28 Ligue 1 games so far and appeared in all eight of PSG’s Champions League fixtures.
