Sam Johnstone signed a new two-year deal with Manchester United yesterday – and immediately told one fan that he wanted to leave the club on loan.
The 23-year-old is yet to make his competitive debut for the club and surprised supporters by signing a new two-year deal at Old Trafford this week.
The goalkeeper has been at United since the age of 10 and emerged from the 2011 FA Youth Cup final side alongside the likes of Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard.
United confirmed the news of Johnstone’s renewal on Instagram and one fan summed up the surprising news by asking Johnstone: “Why don’t you go on Loan and get game time mate … You’re a good Keeper with great potential.”
Johnstone then replied to the fan and told him: “That’s exactly what I want to do”.
Jose Mourinho’s named Johnstone on the bench for United’s Europa League clashes this season but he’s behind David De Gea and Sergio Romero in the pecking order at the Theatre of Dreams.
