Manchester United have once again enquired about the availability of Romelu Lukaku this summer as Everton step up their interest in signing Wayne Rooney, according to reports in the British media.
The Times is claiming that the Toffees are looking to ramp up their bid to bring Rooney back to Goodison Park this summer.
And that has opened the door for Manchester United to once again enquire about the possibility of bringing the 24-year-old Lukaku to Old Trafford this summer, according to the same story.
The same article states that Lukaku is wanted by both Chelsea and Manchester United this summer as the speculation about the £100m-rated striker’s future continues.
However, it remains to be seen whether there will be any link between Rooney’s proposed return to Everton and Lukaku’s touted move to Manchester United.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a move to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata this summer but it seems that Jose Mourinho’s side are keeping their options open.
Manchester United are due to jet off to the United States for their pre-season tour on Sunday.
