Guillem Balague has revealed that Atletico Madrid are confident Antoine Griezmann and Jan Oblak will be staying beyond the summer transfer window, despite interest from Manchester United.
Griezmann has been linked with a big-money move to the Red Devils at the end of the 2016-17 season as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his attacking options in the summer transfer window.
The 25-year-old has scored 26 times in 52 appearances in all competitions this season to further cement his status as one of Europe’s leading attacking players.
Atletico goalkeeper Oblak has also been touted with a potential move to Manchester United at the end of the 2016-17 campaign amid talk of David De Gea making the switch to Real Madrid.
Speaking to Sky Sports about the transfer speculation linking the Atletico duo with a switch to Manchester United, La Liga expert Balague said: “What I’m hearing is that Atletico Madrid feel both Oblak and Antoine Griezmann are staying put.
“It’s worth noting that, at this stage, Atleti cannot sign players so the club are not prepared to make decisions on players until they find out their fate from Fifa.
“At the moment, Atleti feel they are going to keep the team they have and, if they can, get rid of Kevin Gameiro and bring in another striker.”
Manchester United will finish in sixth place in the Premier League table this season after a mixed campaign under Mourinho.
