Superstar opens up on imminent Man Utd switch: “It’s the perfect opportunity”
Romelu Lukaku says he is joining the biggest club in the world as he gets set to seal his £75million switch to Manchester United .
The Belgian international will be announced officially on Sunday and he cannot wait to join the team he regards as the best in the business.
Lukaku snubbed a return to Chelsea to reunite with former boss Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
And he told ESPN: “It’s a club that is hungry to win the league again, to be dominant in the world again.
“It’s the sort of opportunity I’ve always wanted since a child.
“When they came calling I didn’t have to think twice, so I’m really delighted be part of history.
“Who would say no to the biggest club in the world? The best stadium in England, the best fans. I mean, it’s the perfect opportunity.
“I always said I wanted to play for a team that’s challenging for every trophy that there is there. I think Manchester United at the minute wants to be the dominant team, the dominant force.
“Now it’s time to work hard, work harder than I ever did before and I’m willing to do it.”
Earlier on Sunday, Lukaku posted pictures of his medical in Los Angeles.
The 24-year-old is pictured in a waiting room, which he captioned “Medicals”.
He also shared a snap of him lying on a bed connected to what appears to be a heart monitor and the caption “save me” with a crying laughing face.
He also shared pictures of himself signing a young fan’s shirt, saying “First Manchester United fan I’ve met.. #Blessed #Thankful”.
The news comes just hours after it emerged he had been arrested after hosting a party which spiralled out of control.
The star was reprimanded after police were called six times to the rowdy bash at his luxury holiday home in the US.
