The 22-Goals Serie A Striker Told by Teammate to Sign Contract Extension Amid Man United Interest

DRIES MERTENS has been urged to reject a move this summer from Napoli, amid interest from Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho is looking to increase his firepower at Manchester United in the summer.

Reports emerged suggesting Napoli striker Mertens was watched by United over the weekend.

United also sent scouts to watch Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic.

Despite the interest shown in Mertens, his team-mate Lorenzo Insigne thinks he is better off staying put.

“Mertens has a lot of quality and can do well in any role,” Insigne told Italian TV station Mediaset.

“His goals are important, I hope he remains with us so that I get to play alongside him for a long time.

“He is a great player.

“The club knows how to keep its best players.

“I renewed my contract for a winning project and I hope he can do the same.”

Mertens, who is out of contract next year, has fired 22 Serie A goals for Napoli this term.
