Transfer Rumours: £70m European playmaker linked with Manchester United

Manchester United are in for a heave spending spree yet again this summer and multiple reports suggest that Jose Mourinho will be bidding for AS Monaco winger Bernardo Silva in the transfer window. Pundits all over the world rate the 22 year old very highly and Mourinho is also an admirer of the Portuguese play maker.

Marvelous midfielder

Silva possesses an array of skill set and dribbling ability despite his short built. This makes him a force to deal with while going forward but still a delight to watch. Silva plays in an advanced midfield role which allows him to be able to feed balls to the forwards.

Adding fuel to the rumour is the fact that he is represented by super-agent Jorge Mendes, the same as that of Mourinho which could prove to be a big factor in any negotiations taking place. But, the valuation of Silva by Monaco at £70 million could see the United from backing out on a deal.

Moreover, any deal for him would hinge on the opportunity to provide Champions League football to the young midfielder. With Jose prioritizing potential moves for Antoine Griezmann and James Rodriguez over him, it will be very difficult for Silva to become a Red Devil.

Most wanted

The Portuguese international’s contract with the French outfit runs until 2020. Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid are also interested in him after a tremendous season with Monaco. This could result in a hard negotiation for the Red Devils.

A bidding war with the Spanish sides could mean that his value increases a lot more than the current valuation. This would benefit Monaco manifold as they bought him for a measly £14 million.

The Old Trafford faithful might see Rodriguez completing his move soon, decreasing the chances for a move for Silva. Even with huge transfer fees involved, he would certainly be an invaluable asset and make any team look formidable.
