The latest club to be linked with a big-money move for Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney will come as quite a surprise – it’s Stoke City.
The Potters, according to the Mirror, are ready to offer £45m for the signature of the forward, with the financial assistance of their sponsors Bet365.
Mark Hughes is reportedly keen to get Rooney on board for next season and urge him to snub offers from the Chinese Super League and Major League Soccer to remain in the Premier League.
It would be a significant price for Stoke to pay, eclipsing the £18.3m fee paid for record signing Giannelli Imbula in February 2017, but Bet365 have the financial prowess to help make the move happen.
Rooney, however, previously said that the only Premier League club he would leave United for is boyhood side Everton.
