Why Manchester United are the only club that can still sign £119m-rated star
AC Milan star Gigio Donnarumma is one of the most wanted players in the world. The 18-year-old is being the rossoneri no.1 goalkeeper for one year and a half and he is regarded as the most promising goalkeeper in the world.
Several big clubs are being linked with welcoming his services in the summer given that The £119m-rated Italy international‘s contract expires in 2018 and his agent Mino Raiola is in no rush to make him sign a contract extension.
On the other hand, however, AC Milan are rushing to make Donnarumma put pen to paper on a new deal and according to reports in Italy they have even threatened their star that he’d sit on the bench for the next season if he fails to pen a new agreement.
There are, however, many big European clubs that do not need a goalkeeper or are close to signing a new one. Barcelona have just extended the contract of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, a former Man City target. The Citizens are reportedly close to signing Benfica’s Ederson, Chelsea are willing to confirm Thibaut Courtois and Real Madrid have made Man Utd’s De Gea their top summer target.
Circumstances give, Manchester United are the only club that have a chance to sign Donnarumma in the summer. The Red Devils do not want to sell the 18-year-old to Juventus and Raiola is on very good terms with representatives of Manchester United after the signing of Pogba, Ibrahimovic and Mkhitaryan last summer. If De Gea departs in the summer, Donnarumma can be the right name to fill the boots of the Spaniard.
