Victor Lindelof looks set to stay at Manchester United this summer after attracting interest from Barcelona.
The Spanish champions are exploring alternatives to Matthijs de Ligt as the Dutch centre-back appears on course to sign for Juventus. And Lindelof is on Barca’s shortlist, although United have told the club that they have no plans to sell the Sweden international this summer.
Lindelof is currently with United’s squad for the start of their pre-season tour in Australia and the defender’s agent admits Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side must be the ones to instigate negotiations for a transfer to happen.
‘Lindelof is in the orbit of a great European club, but leaving United depends on the English club,’ Hasan Cetinkaya told Mundo Deportivo.
United remain in the market for a new central defender and are in negotiations with Leicester City over a deal for Harry Maguire. But United face competition from Manchester City for the England international, while Leicester are demanding a £90m fee.
Lindelof is not the only Man United defender who has been linked with a summer move. It was reported recently that the Red Devils are ready to sell Marcos Rojo if £25m offer is made.
