Premier League giants Manchester United are reportedly on the verge of finalising a deal for La Liga star Saul Niguez after agreeing on a fee with Atletico Madrid.
The 20-times English champions are already planning for the next campaign and are believed to have earmarked Saul Niguez as the ideal replacement for Pogba.
According to Spanish outlet Todofichajes, the 20-times English champions have practically concluded a transfer for the 25-year-old playmaker, with the Premier League club allegedly handing over £70m for his services.
That is down from the £131m Atletico Madrid were originally holding out for before the coronavirus pandemic changing the landscape of this summer’s transfer window.
The move depends on France international midfielder Paul Pogba sealing a move away from the Red Devils, however, as United need first to raise funds through player sales.
Juventus and Real Madrid are the only sides realistically in the running to secure the services of Pogba this summer and signing Saul Niguez could help the Red Devils to compete for all possible trophies next season.
January signing Bruno Fernandes has had a huge impact at Old Trafford after joining them from Sporting Lisbon and Saul could help him to build a stunning midfield duo in the Premier League.
