Former Premier League attacker Darren Bent has claimed that he ‘would not be surprised’ if Man City made an attempt to secure the services of Paul Pogba from their bitter rivals Manchester United.
The France international, who is currently on the sidelines recovering due to an ankle surgery, is widely expected to depart from the 20-times English champions during this summer’s transfer window.
The World-cup winning midifelder has allegedly told his teammates at Old Trafford that he is determined to depart from the club ahead of next season, while the Red Devils are believed to have lowered their asking price by £30m.
And former PL forward Bent has claimed that “a whole host of teams” would love to have Pogba in their quad, who could even be a target for the Red Devils arch-rivals Man City.
“When you talk about Manchester United selling him, I think there’s going to be a whole host of teams lining up to get him,” Bent told talkSPORT.
“I know people are saying they’re going to have to take a loss on him, but I can see him going pretty much anywhere he wants – certain teams in the Premier League by the way.
“When someone like a Paul Pogba comes available on the market, and let’s not forget he’s only 26, there’s going to be so many takers. It wouldn’t surprise me if teams like Manchester City come in for him. I can see him getting in Liverpool’s team, too. If he’s on top, top form he can get in most teams in the world.”
Pogba has only made eight appearances for Man Utd this campaign and has managed to provide two assists.
