Paris Saint-Germain have allegedly made an approach for Lazio midfielder and Manchester United target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
During a five-year stint at Stadio Olimpico, the Serbia international has established himself as one of the most highly-rated players in his position across Europe.
Having helped I Biancocelesti qualify for next season’s Champions League, the likes of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and La Liga giants Real Madrid have been linked with an approach for the 25-year-old star.
The Red Devils had been linked with a swoop for the Serbian in previous windows. One report even stated Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer planned to team him up with Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba in an all-star midfield.
However, according to Corriere della Sera, the Parisians have emerged as the favourites to sign Milinkovic-Savic this transfer window.
Although Lazio are said to have rejected a bid of £54m, the bid is likely to commence negotiations between the two sides.
Despite having four years left on his deal, Milinkovic-Savic could be sold over the coming weeks if any interested side is prepared to meet his asking price, likely well in excess of £60 million.
Meantime, Manchester United allegedly ‘never had any intention’ of signing Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes during this summer’s transfer window.
The 22-year-old star is believed to be on the verge of penning a long-term contract with Arsenal.
A recent report stated that United had contacted the Brazilian’s agents to discuss a potential move to Old Trafford, with the club reportedly keen to beat the Gunners to his signature.
However, according to the Manchester Evening News, the club were never serious about moving for the South American, with their name being used to ‘pressure’ the Gunners into a deal.
